Double Wall Condensers

Double-Wall Condenser Double-Wall Condenser

Heat Exchanger Cut Away
The nested double-wall convoluted hose.

Packless double-wall heat exchangers are designed specifically as condensers to remove heat from the superheated refrigerant discharge vapor of air conditioning, refrigeration, or heat pump systems for the purpose of heating potable water.

The condenser utilizes a double-wall hose to ensure the refrigerant does not mix with potable water in the unlikely event of a refrigerant leak.

Packless double wall condensers are C-UL-US listed per the UL-207 standard for refrigerant side working pressures of 650 psig and water side working pressures of 500 psig.

More Details

Packless double-wall condensers utilize a coaxial convoluted hose design. Water flows through the inner double-wall hose while refrigerant flows in the annulus between the inner hose and outer tube.

The key to the high performance of Packless heat exchangers lies in the convoluted multi-lead inner hose manufactured in a patented process. The resulting convoluted hose has increased heat transfer surface area and permits full flow of both water and refrigerant around its entire periphery.

Turbulence imparted by the convolutions to both the water and refrigerant flows further enhances the thermal performance, while inhibiting the accumulation of deposits on the surfaces. The net result is an effective, compact heat exchanger with superior anti-fouling characteristics.

Optimum heat transfer with Packless double-wall condensers is achieved with a counterflow arrangement of water and refrigerant during condensing.

For non-standard applications, Packless can manufacture double-wall condensers with different capacities, mounting brackets, and fittings. Tell us what you need and our engineers will assist in making it happen.
