Double Wall Condenser Coils

Double Wall Condenser Double Wall Condenser

Coil Cut Away
The nested double-wall convoluted tube.

Packless double wall condenser coils are designed specifically to remove heat from the superheated refrigerant discharge vapor of air conditioning, refrigeration, or heat pump systems for the purpose of heating potable water.

The condenser utilizes a double wall tube to ensure the refrigerant does not mix with potable water in the unlikely event of a refrigerant leak.

Packless double wall condenser coils are C-UL-US listed for refrigerant side working pressures of 650 psig and water side working pressures of 500 psig.

More Details

Packless double wall condenser coils utilize a coaxial "tube-in-tube" design. Water flows through the inner double wall tube while refrigerant flows in the annulus between the inner and outer tubes.

The key to the high performance of Packless coils lies in the convoluted multi-lead inner tube manufactured in a patented process. The resulting convoluted tube has increased heat transfer surface area per unit and permits full flow of both water and refrigerant around its entire periphery.

Turbulence imparted by the convolutions to both the water and refrigerant flows further enhances the thermal performance, while inhibiting the accumulation of deposits on the surfaces. The net result is an effective, compact heat exchanger with superior anti-fouling characteristics.

Optimum heat transfer with Packless double wall condenser coils is achieved with a counterflow arrangement of water and refrigerant during condensing.

For non-standard applications, Packless can manufacture double wall condenser coils with different capacities, mounting brackets, and fittings. Tell us what you need and our engineers will assist in making it happen.
